The Getting started section of this resource provides school communities with planning ideas and suggestions for implementing cineliteracy. It consists of four key areas:

  • Whole school approach
  • Planning units/lessons
  • Technical tips for teachers
  • Copyright information.

Whole school approach assists school communities to work together to optimise the learning outcomes for students through collaboration and planning within the school community and by developing effective home, school and community partnerships.

Planning units/lessons provides a template and model for use by teachers in planning for cineliteracy using the teaching and learning cycle and the model for explicit teaching.

Copyright information provides essential information about music copyright and parental consent forms required by students participating in cineliteracy.

Technical tips for teachers contains a short video for first-time film makers including basic advice on using a digital video (DV) camera, recording sound, using lighting and editing.
