Authors In Priority Schools Program
Formed in 1963, the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) is the peak professional association for Australia’s literary creators and illustrators, representing approximately 3,000 members nation-wide.
The Authors in Priority Schools program will boost literacy through a specific focus on developing writing skills. The Authors in Priority Schools program was first piloted in twelve schools in 2008 and offered students in Priority Schools the opportunity to be assisted by, learn from and work in depth with a number of well known and successfully published Australian writers. The authors represent a professional group of dedicated, highly motivated and effective communicators. ASA authors attached to the Priority Schools base their work on a student, teacher and school-friendly approach.
